I started Workers Wood because I couldn’t find the lumber I needed. I was building custom furniture for clients, and tracking down the right boards for each job often took longer than building the piece. So I started sourcing hardwood myself, first for my own work and then for other woodworkers.

Having the right wood on hand changed the furniture side too. Instead of designing around whatever I could get, I could design around the room. That’s how most of our work starts now: a photo of the space, a few measurements, and a conversation with the homeowner or their designer about how the room actually gets used. Then we draw it and build it here in London, Ontario.

We still sell lumber and still run the planer for other makers. But the work I’m proudest of is the table that looks like it was always meant to be in that room.
